Spyware Removal

Definition:
Spyware is a program that collects private information about user - such as usernames, passwords, social security numbers, credit card details … - or about computer itself, and transmits it to the internet.

Adware refers to any application which might be downloaded without the user consent, as it is hidden in another software.

Adware monitors what you do online, the terms you search for, the sites you visit, and report this information back to the ad agencies that have created the adware program. It constantly shows disturbing ads and pop-ups while you browse the internet.

Spyware programs don't spread like viruses or worms, meaning that an infected computer usually don't try to transmit the infection to other systems. Instead, they invade a computer through malicious software or through deception of the internet user.

A spyware infection can cause major CPU consumption, network traffic, and disk usage, therefore slowing down the computer. Stability issues, including system not turning on, applications not responding, and system crashes are also common.

Symptoms:

The symptoms that your computer is infected with spyware include:

Spyware infected system
  • Your computer runs unusually slower
  • Pop-ups appear frequently
  • A browser takes you to sites without your consent
  • Some browser toolbars appear unexpectedly
  • Your Internet connection speed has decreased
  • Random error messages
  • Keys that don't work
  • New and unexpected icons on your desktop or on the system tray

In some cases, there may be no clues at all.

If you suspect your computer is infected with adware or spyware, immediately stop banking, shopping, or any other online activity that requires user names, passwords, or other sensitive information.

Removal:
